What does it mean to be “religious-exempt”?Buttons & Bows Learning Center is an approved religious-exempt program, which means that our childcare center is exempt from licensure due to our religious affiliation. Nevertheless, the well-being of our students is our top priority. As a religious-exempt program, we hold the appropriate certifications and comply with local codes to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. Our teachers and employees meet the required professional and physical qualifications to care for children. All staff are trained and certified in CPR and First Aid. We have approval from the local health department and fire marshal and maintain regular inspections. We follow staff-child ratios as required by law. We require background checks on all staff prior to employment. Our team is trained to recognize, report, and respond to child abuse and neglect. We abide by Virginia health and safety requirements. For more information about Virginia law regarding childcare centers with religious exemption, please review code § 22.1-289.031.

-
When are payments due?We kindly ask that you pay for the upcoming week of tuition on the first day your child attends. For example, if your child will be in attendance for a full five-day week, your payment is due on Monday. If there is a holiday, inclement weather cancelation, or they are absent on Monday, payment will be due Tuesday.
-
What time is drop-off/pickup?You may drop off and pick up your child at the time that suits your family best. We simply ask that you refrain from picking up during rest time as it may disturb children throughout the center.
-
What supplies will parents need to provide?Upon enrollment, you will receive an exhaustive supply list, but it looks similar to this: Infants: Diapers, wipes, formula, food, swaddles, pacifiers, change of clothes, and diaper cream. Toddlers and up: Diapers or Pull-Ups, wipes, breakfast and lunch, a change of clothes, insect repellent, sunscreen, and nap mat.
-
What are the sleeping arrangements? Our center follows the guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding safe sleeping. Infants sleep in a crib on their back with no other objects in the sleep space. Once children transition out of the crib, usually around 16 months, they will sleep on a nap mat (provided by the family). We recommend an option similar to this. In our preschool program, we offer a nap/quiet time to allow adequate rest time both for children still on a nap routine and those who have stopped daytime napping.
-
Do you offer a summer hold? Our daycare center operates year-round. If you choose to keep your child home during the summer (second week of June through July 31), you may reserve their spot in our program for a flat fee of $500. Regular tuition rates apply from August 1 through the first week of June.
-
What is the process for withdrawing my child from Buttons & Bows?We require three weeks paid written notice. Your $200 deposit will be refunded upon withdrawal if sufficient notice is provided.
